Happy Day After Thanksgiving. Did you shop today? I did on-line. I was just too tired to brave the crowds. I was in bed by 8:15pm last night. I'm not sure if I'm "cut out" to host 16 people for dinner. But my husband did the turkey - what a guy! He saw a new recipe that he wanted to try out. My sister-in-law's and mother-in-law brought all the sides. I just had to do the stuffing and potatoes. Actually, now that I think of it, my father-in-law cut the potatoes and my mother-in-law mashed them. Gee, I didn't do much at all! Hey, I did clean the house and made all the decor. That counts for something!
I know it's after Thanksgiving but I wanted to share the table decor that I made from our dinner last night. I actually had to re-create them this morning because I forgot to take pictures yesterday once I had all of the tables set.
This is what each person had at their chair. I had three different table clothes so each table had a little different color combination but this gives you a basic idea.
Here is a close up of the napkin rings. They are just strips of card stock with with a layer of Autumn Vine DSP on top. A Scallop Circle Punch and one 1 3/8" circle punch of card stock stamped with the Country Blessings stamp set from last year's Country Living stampin' kit. I just love this set.
This is the place card. It is made from the Sizzix Top Note die, the Leaves die and a computer generated font. I crimped the leaves with our Paper Crimper for texture.
I made candle centerpieces too. I filled them with mixed nuts and a vanilla pillar candle. I wrapped our Chocolate Chip Felt Ribbon (from the Alpine Ribbon Collection in the Holiday Mini Catalog) and accented with another crimped leaf tied with Linen Thread.
I also added crimped leaves on each table for extra color.
And this is the Thankful Tree. My sweet sons cut and tied the thread through all of the leaves. I asked each family member to write something they were thankful for on a leaf. It was neat to see what everyone wrote. My boys asked this morning if we can keep it up. I think they wrote 3 or 4 leaves each. ;0)
Though it was a little extra work, I had fun making them and may just change them to a Christmas/Winter theme if we host a Christmas dinner. I hope they give you an idea of an easy way to add that little extra touch to your next gathering.
I am going to go stamp now. Tomorrow I begin to decorate for Christmas!
Don't forget about my Holiday Extravaganza Weekend Specials. You can see all the details in THIS POST.
