Valentine's That Rock!

  Happy Happy Friday!

I love my job!  I am just so thrilled to be here at this computer sharing with you this fun craft and the wonderful products that Stampin' Up! offers!  Another part of my job is meetings - I love meetings too!  Yes, don't choke - I love meetings.  This week I had a meeting with my up-line Susan Wright that included coffee and stamping!  Who wouldn't love a meeting like that??

This was the make and take that Sue brought for me to make.  Love it.  Now, I'm usually not a fan of the whole skull and cross-bones fad that is happening now.  But, I have to say that these little treats were very fun to make and this stamp set, Just Jawing, stamps very clean and crisp.

Sue let me make two of them and had both a boy and girl layout.  I chose to do one of each!  Hopefully, you can tell which one is which.  The girl treat has Crystal Effects over the top of her pink eyes (I should have taken a close up picture of that) and they look great.  See that fun decorative strip above her?  That is our new Eyelet Border Punch.  Well, if a skill can be girly-here she is! 

The boy treat has punched hearts (from the Heart to Heart punch) layered in his eyes and a bow tie.  Everything is popped on both projects with Stampin' Dimensionals.

 Here is what you find when you open them.  Cute huh?  I adhered the Sweethearts to the wrap with our Sticky Strip.  A small half-circle of Velcro acts as your closure.

The dimensions of the Whisper White card stock wrap are: 3 1/4" x 10 1/2".  You score at: 1", 1 3/4", 5 3/4" and 6 1/2".  Embellish to your heart's content.

Valentine's Treat

  Hello!

Sorry for my (almost) week of silence.  This had been a week of unscheduled events being added to my days. 

I wanted to share this project with you that my Open House attendees made last weekend.  It was such a hit that I thought others may like to see it too!  I got the idea from Barb Mulliken.

I used the goodies in the Love You Much Bundle (again).  You have just until Saturday to order this fantastic product group at a 20% off savings!  Check it out HERE. 

This is just a quick and cute treat to give for Valentine's Day (or any other occasion) and it's easy!  You just can't go wrong decorating chocolate!

Start with a piece of card stock measuring 2 3/4" x 10 1/4".  Score at 2 1/2", 2 3/4", 6 3/4" and 7".  The longer flap is the bottom and gets punched with the Word Window punch.

Decorate as you like, insert chocolate (or candy of your choice), close and wrap with ribbon.  The recipient simply slides the ribbon down to open the top flap and the ribbon remains to keep your candy in place.See??  Easy! 

The greeting comes from the Curvy Verses stamp set and is perfect for this particular project. 

I hope this inspires you to make a little goody for your loved ones.  I have to say that when I was in elementary school, my favorite day was Valentine's Day.  You hang your little Valentine's bag and watch it fill up as your classmates distribute their Valentine's cards.  I would always OVER analyze the Valentine's that would come from the boys in my class.  Do they really think I'm "keen", "cute", "cool", etc...  Yes, and unfortunately, the habit to over-analyze has followed me into adulthood.  :0(

Hugs and Kisses

   Happy Friday!  Just a quick post today.  I have to go clean house for my Catalogs and Cocoa New Catalog Open House tonight. 

These cute pails are one of the door prizes that I'm giving away this weekend at my open houses.  I got the pails at Target in the Dollar Spot. 

I used the items in the Love You Much bundle to embellish.  I punched Pink Pirouette hearts with the Heart to Heart punch and the tag is the "Hugs and Kisses" image from the Love You Much set.  Guess what is in the cello bags??  Hershey's Hugs and Kisses!  Aren't I cleaver?  Not really, but I like to think so.

I did use some of the recently retired Pink Gingham Ribbon.  The pails have little heart punch outs across the top.  I threaded the ribbon through those.

Crossroads - Bible Verse Challenge September 2008

Yes, you are reading the title correctly - September 2008.  I have gotten a little behind on my monthly Bible Verse Challenge (Splitcoast) projects.  So, when I was stamping with friends last Satuday, I did get one past month done.

I was memorizing and leaning on this Scripture last September:

"This is what the LORD says: 
       'Stand at the crossroads and look;
       ask for the ancient paths,
       ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
       and you will find rest for your souls.'"

            --Jeremiah 6:16

I felt as though I was at a crossroads in my life and had some decisions to make.  I was feeling very anxious and unsure what to do.  God gave me this Scripture during my daily quiet time.  I gave my worries and concerns to God in prayer and he guided me in my decisions and gave me great peace.  God is good all the time!

I thought these colors gave the pages an "ancient" or at least antinque feel and I hoped the sponging around the edges of the verse would add to that.  The layout was from a Splitcoast sketch challenge (207).  It reminded me of crossroads.  Here is the sketch:

I like how the Deisgner Filigree brads match the flower image (Always stamp set) that I stamped on the Kraft card stock.

 Here is page two to this project.  I have chosen to do two pages each month:  one to feature the scripture and the second to journal how God used the scripture in my life.  I think it will be great to look back and see all the ways God guided me in my life.

I would encourage you to memorize scripture.  It is so helpful to have this guidance in "the back of my head" to pull from when I need it.  God's Word is so powerful, true and everlasting.

Sweet Friend to Friend Stems - CC153

  Happy Tuesday. 

This card features the Sweet Stems stamp set and Raspberry Tart DSP which are both new in the 2009 Spring/Summer Catalog.  Have you looked at it yet???  You can either download it HERE (warning-it's a big file) or view it at my website via the On-line Shopping HERE.

I that I am really loving this paper the more I play with it!  It is bright but I am liking it.  The flower images are stamped in Staz On Jet Black in on Confetti White card stock and watercolored with Aqua Painters and Classic Ink Pads.

Color Challenges

Happy Sunday!  So, I got to stamp with friends ALL DAY yesterday.  It was heaven.  I played with some challenges yesterday, while I'm waiting to order from the new catalog.  As a demonstrator, we could preorder last month, and I did.  But, I can't show you those things until tomorrow either.  Stampin' Up! rules-and I'm a rule follower. 

This card I did for the color challenge over at Late Night Stampers.  The colors are: Pretty in Pink, Tempting Turquoise, Riding Hood Red and Tangerine Tango.  Eek!  These were a challenge-just ask my friends who were stamping with me yesterday.  I was making them crazy as I tried to put these colors together.

With these bright colors, I could only think of a party so I grabbed my Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set to make a birthday card.  I paper pieced the balloons as well as the candle.  The greeting is a half circle that I stamped twice opposite of one another with the help of our Stamp-a-ma-jig stamp positioner.  I really need to use this more.

I actually like the way it turned out after all of my fussing.

This card I made for a color challenge for SUDSOL.  Yes, more party colors for me: Regal Rose, Taken With Teal and Glorious Green.

 

I grabbed the Party Hearty set from my friend Chris as well as a past sketch from Splitcoast (SCS 205).  The hats and the greeting stamp were colored with Stampin' Write Markers. 

The center of the "b" just screamed to have a Build A Brad in the center.  Perfect!

Love Birds - SC210

This is a card I did for a sketch challenge over at Splitcoast.  I was supposed to be prepping for my Stamp Club Class last Tuesday, but you know me and sketches - I CAN'T RESIST!

Ok, back to the card!  Sorry, a little distracted by all that is happening!

I stamped the hearts from the set in Close to Cocoa ink on Pink Pirouette and Riding Hood Red card stock and punched them with the Heart to Heart punch.  A few of them are popped with Stampin' Dimensionals. 

The birds are paper pieced.  I stamped the them in Riding Hood Red ink on Confetti Cream card stock and on a piece of Candy Lane DSP.  I cut out the birds on the Candy Lane DSP and layered them onto the Confetti Cream card stock. 

 You can see the detail better here.  I also added a little dab of Crystal Effects on the tiny heart between the two birds.  I really like how this card turned out!

  Here it is!  This is what I end up with when I am planning and creating for a class. 

See that piece of Whisper White card stock on grid paper in the bottom left corner of the picture?  That is where I was stamping.  That's it!  I manage to clutter a 10 foot long stamp counter so bad that I have about a 6"x 6" area to work in. 

Ok, so now you know my terrible secret!  I'm a mess! (wink-Denise) ;0)

Two Events, Two Cards, Two Colors...Too Simple!

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a great weekend.  Mine was busy on Saturday and quiet yesterday.

Saturday I woke up to realize that, on top off everything else I had to do, I needed to stamp two cards for the two events that were happening that day.  Oops-I had forgotten to get those done!

I was helping with and attending a wedding of the daughter of my great friend Jennifer.  The colors were black and white-it was so pretty!  The bride, Nicole, did a wonderful job designing the decor for the reception. 

I wanted to follow her lead of simple and elegant when I made her card and stick with her two colors.  This is the card I came up with.

I used Basic Black and our Shimmer White card stock.  I love that Shimmer White - too pretty!  I heat embossed the swirl from the Baroque Motifs stamp set with Versamark Ink and Clear Embossing Powder.  The word love, from the Wonderful Words stamp set (retiring!) is also heat embossed with Craft Basic Black Ink and Clear Embossing Powder.  I added a couple of black brads from the Vintage Brads collection and that is it.

Here is a close up of the details.  I'm sorry the shimmer of the Shimmer White card stock doesn't show up.  You just have to see it "live" to really appreciate it.

Accessories: Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Vintage Brads, 1/16" punch 

 

The second event that was happening on Saturday was a birthday party.  My son, Hunter, attended that while the three of us went to the wedding. 

I asked Hunter what theme he wanted for the card and he just said I had to use "Only Orange and Basic Black" (yes, he gave me the specific Stampin' Up! color names).  Those are the school colors for their elementary school.  He didn't care what set I used so I grabbed our Sporting set.

The "All Star" is heat embossed with Craft Basic Black Ink and Clear Embossing Powder.  More black brads from the Vintage Brads assortment anchored the sides.

It may appear that I dry embossed all the little squares, but NO!  Those are punched card stock squares from our 3/4" square punch adhered to the card.  I just cut of the extra of those around the edges.  I like how it turned out!  But I'm bummed that the 3/4" square punch is retiring!
