 Hellooo!  Yes, I'm still here.  I am so sorry for my lack of blogging in the last week.  I so miss it!  This week is spring break for my boys so I'm pretty sure I will still be struggling to get to share with you.

We had a blast last Friday at the Cut N' Crop and, AGAIN, I forgot to take a picture!  Uugh!  I was too busy creating, visiting, teaching that I forgot.  Next time for sure!

I did make this card at the Crop.  It is for my boys' first babysitter who just graduated from college is is going to be a teacher.  I decided to do a teacher theme rather than a graduation theme.

I used the Texture Plates Kit #4, checker board print, on the Kiwi Kiss card stock piece.  It doesn't show up too well in this picture but it added a great effect to the card.

I'm going to be brief today.  That way I can go do some paper work stuff in hopes that I can be back here tomorrow!  The new Occasions Mini goes live tomorrow and I need to share some of the fun products with you.

 I have to admit that I have had absolutely no time this week to stamp.  Well, except for making the shirt and tie bag.  Between half-days of school for conferences and baseball games starting-I've been going in many directions.

Shirt and Tie

 

Happy Tuesday!

I was working on this little item this morning for the patterns coordinator over at SUDSOL.  She wanted to update our gallery for this project with more current samples.

Do you know what it is???

It's a paper gift bag!  Isn't it cute?  I am just tickled with the way that it turned out.  I used the Designer Series Paper - To The Nines.  It was perfect for a dress shirt and tie.

I know I'm a little early for Father's Day but I trended towards a masculine paper bag shirt rather than a feminine one.  Simply add some lace, flower or pearls to create a feminine gift bag.

Start with a paper lunch sack.  I cut a bit off the top of mine-I didn't want a long-waisted bag.  ;0) 

The dimensions of the bag are 5 1/8" x 9 3/4".  For the collar-I went down 1 1/4" on opposite sides of the bag and cut in 2" on either side.  You then just fold them down and to the center until the tips meet.

I laid the bag flat and covered both sides with the Designer Series Paper.  I switched the pattern on the inside of the shirt collar so it was different than the outside.  I adhered the collar down with glue dots and added buttons tied with linen thread for a realistic look.  You can simply flip up the collar to open the bag!

I was going to use ribbon for the tie but it was too narrow.  After looking online, I found a pattern for an origami tie HERE.  I used a 5" x 5" square of Designer Series Paper for my tie.

 No, I'm got going "valley girl" on you.  Wow, valley girl, did I just date myself??  It is just that this thank you card uses the stamp set Totally Tool. 

I love this set!  I knew I had to have this set the minute I saw it.  Hee Hee.  With my husband being the handy guy that he is-I knew this set would be perfect to use for his cards.  I will be giving him this card today to thank him for all that he does for our family. 

This card was inspired by the sketch challenge (DCBD119) over at Diva Coffee Break Designs.  Here is the sketch:

I was honestly baffled when I first looked at this sketch, "What am I going to put in the half-circle?"  As I looked at it more the half-circle reminded me of a saw blade.  I guess I have construction on the brain with our remodel.  ;0)

So, that is what I went with - a saw blade!

 Here is a close up so you can see the texture that I added.  Yes, more Texturz plates.  I also distressed the edges of the greeting with our Cutter Kit.  I added Close to CocoaInk to both the textured wood-grain piece and the edges of the distressed greeting to create more texture.

I really enjoyed putting this card together.  I almost didn't sleep last night because I really wanted to be up stamping this.  I hope you like it.

Baseball All-Star - CAS06

 

So, I've been really drawn to clean and simple cards lately.  Now you wouldn't know that by my last card post - but I have!

So, I tried out this week's Clean and Simple Challenge (CAS06).  The Clean and Simple challenge asks you to use a very limited amount of supplies - "quick and easy".  This week is an an inspiration challenge and you need to go to the Robeez website and find something that inspires you.  They sell little kids shoes and there is a lot of inspiration there!  Try the Scrapbook Flower shoes!

So, I saw these little shoes: 

 

Aren't they cute?  I immediately thought of our Just Baseball set.

It is just stamps, ink and paper for this card.  Oh, I guess there is White Embossing Powder on the baseballs.  That's it-that's all!

Love You Much - WSC72

 Here is a card that I made to play along with the Weekend Sketch Challenge 71.  This card also meets a challenge given to me by my friend Denise.  She shares our stamping obsession.  Last week she emailed me a picture of the shirt of one of her daycare children and said the colors would make a good card.  Here is the picture:

Denise determined the colors as: Cameo Coral, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip and Tempting Turquoise

So I took those colors and applied them to the sketch and this is what I came up with.  What do you think? 

It took me forever to figure out the center for the large flower.  I started with Chocolate Chip but it was just too dark.  I tried Tempting Turquoise but I settled with Very Vanilla.  I used one of our clear buttons and adhered a 1" circle punch of Very Vanilla to the back with Crystal Effects.  I then threaded Hemp Twine through the center.  Oh, the flowers are from our Pretties Kit.  I used Sponge Daubers to apply Cameo Coral ink to them. 

I'm still loving my Texturz Plates.  I add texture to whatever I can and this card got some texture on the Top Note die cut.  I also used textured card stock for the Tempting Turquoise card base.  The overall card size is 5" x 5". 

Well, I got a chance to stamp on Friday but not for very long-I only got this card started.  My husband came home 3 hours early because a cement truck was coming.  I ended up helping him prep for the cement pour.  I guess that is what happens when you are in the middle of a remodeling project.  We are converting our garage to a family room.  I'm secretly (well, not so secretly) hoping that it will be a new stamping studio.  But whatever it turns out to be, I will have a new room in which to hold my classes!  Woo Hoo!  He is even going to put in "eyeball" light fixtures so they can spotlight my display boards!  What a guy!

Here is the current status as of yesterday:

We are almost finished with the sub-floor and we go to the ceiling next.  He is vaulting them!

OK, I'm off!  I am going to the symphony this evening with my dear friend Jennifer and her son Caleb.  He is a budding trumpet player and is excited to see some talented musicians.  I must go dress for my date!  ;0)
