Love, Joy, Peace Holiday Decor and Prize Drawing Winner

I am so thrilled with this Christmas project that I made last week.  It will sit on one of my living room end tables this Christmas season.

I started with a piece of Real Red card stock and cut it down to 8 1/2" x 11".  To create the black stripes - I took a Sponge Dauber, inked it with Basic Black Classic Ink and ran it along a ruler.  As you can see - I did this without specifically spacing out the lines.  The splatter was created with a watercolor brush and bleach and a "flick of the wrist".

To create the focal image, I used our Join The Cheer Decorative Strip Die for the Big Shot to die cut the three words.  I applied ink to the snowflake images with Sponge Daubers for a lighter effect than inking them directly in the ink pad.  I also sponged around the edge of the Naturals Ivory card stock with Stamping Sponges and Real Red and Old Olive Classic Ink.  The scripture reference was printed on my computer, trimmed down and simply adhered under the word "Peace".  Galatians 5:22 - "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  v.23 gentleness and self-control." 

I have been wanting to create this frame since last Christmas when I saw these napkins.  Aren't they pretty?!

It is a quick and inexpensive way to add something new to your Christmas decor this year.

A Decoration for All Seasons

This is a project that we made at a Late Night Stampers Pre-Convention Stamp Camp.  I am not sure who designed this project so I can't give them credit- I just know it wasn't me.  I don't usually decorate specifically for Halloween, but this is pretty cute.

The base of the project is this decorative plate that she bought at a dollar store.  Here is a picture of the original so you can know what you are looking for. 

It comes with a thin plastic covering that you remove, take out the label, insert your paper-crafted piece and put back the plastic covering.

We made three additional inserts for this plate for three other seasons of decorating.

Fancy Door Prizes

Yea!  I'm back.  I have been wanting to blog so bad these past two days and have been just too busy with events.  But that is good too!

Right now I'm between my two Mommy and Me Classes today so I snuck over to my computer!  I will be posting some fun pictures of the kids and their projects in the next week.

OK, on to this picture!  These were the door prizes that I made up for my Club Classes this week.  I used our awesome new Fancy Favors die for the Big Shot and our Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper to create the box body.  Then I just added a little handle to each with coordinating card stock, a strip around the bottom that was jazzed up with our edge punches and an embellishment on the front.  These were TOO EASY!  I love this die.  I have to say that I want each and every one of the box dies for the Big Shot!  Ok, I better get them on my Christmas Wish List.

Have you ever wanted to add a button for an embellishment but didn't want thread through the center and leaving it plain looked...well, plain??  Try inserting a brad into the center!  Yes, it is quite a coincidence that our buttons have two holes and our brads have two tails.  Huh!

Anyway, I liked how this little element turned out.

Icy Inkers Meeting Swaps

Better late than never, I promised you these cards yesterday and I failed!  Oops.  I just wanted to keep you in suspense.  ;0)

This card was made by my up-line Susan Wright and features our new In Color - Soft Suede.  Pretty.  Did you know...this awesome Medallion stamp was the #1 selling stamp set for Stampin' Up! in July??  I know why.

This card was made by Nina Lomax.  Nina used Summer Sun and Really Rust.  Definitely a summery card!  Pretty Nina.

This little post it note holder was done by Deb Arleque.  Deb used our new Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper to cover a chipboard coaster and cover the binder clip.  Cute.

Chris Occhipinti made this great card featuring the Fifth Avenue Floral Stamp set and the To The Nines Designer Series Paper.  I can say I wouldn't have thought to put the two together but it really works!

I just love getting together with these ladies and sharing the craft we all love!

Convention: Roomie Gift and a Sneak Peak

Thought I would show you the gift I gave Chris when we got here.  I went with a purple theme as that is Chris' favorite color.

I included an altered composition notebook and RSVP pen so she could take notes, sticky notes, purple Sharpie, gum, Stampin' Up! water bottle (with Hershey's Dark Chocolate Kisses inside) and a tag for her convention bag.  I actually made the tag myself!  But, I have to say that my packaging of the whole gift didn't come together as I had hoped. 

So I thought I would share some of the fun ways Stampin' Up! decorates for convention.  These are the columns outside the front of the Salt Palace Convention Center.  They are wrapped with nylon banners that show the convention theme: Inspire, Create, Share. 

Here are the main entry doors - those are some seriously big Decor Elements!

Plus all the businesses around town have clings on their windows welcoming Stampin' Up! demonstrators to Salt Lake.  Wow, I almost feel like royalty. ;0)

OK, I will admit that we walked through the convention center last night and took pictures.  But, I don't think I should post those now so I will wait until later in the week.  It was just fun to be there seeing it all coming together yet completely empty.  It won't be empty tomorrow!

Decor Elements Mirror and Open House Fun

So, in preparing for my New Catalog Open Houses last weekend, I did a little decorating.  I altered the mirror in my entry way with our beautiful Serve The Lord Decor Element from our New Definitely Decorative Catalog.

Sorry for the poor picture - do you know how hard it is to take a picture of a mirror?  Flashes, too much stuff reflecting..

Anyway, this is the small black version of this piece and it was so easy to do - my 10 year old son did it!  My friend Denise and I got it lined up for him but his did all the applicating.  Didn't he do a good job?  You can do it too on your walls, mirrors, glass surfaces, laptops, vases, canisters, whatever!  Decor Elements are a great and inexpensive way to add a little class to your decorating.  I received lots of compliments on my mirror from my Open House attendees plus they ordered some of their own Decor Elements!

I thought I would share this month's club class projects with you.  All of the projects used products that are retiring on June 30th. 

This card layout was inspired by the last Chat and Challenge Sketch (CC175) over at SUDSOL (demo only site).

Here is the sketch.  I switched the order of the panels and where the embellishment was but you get the idea.

I showed the ladies the Cracked Glass technique on the focal image.  You can't really see the cracks in the this picture.

This card I designed to play along with the CAS20 Challenge (Paper Piecing) over on Splitcoast and used the Fall To Layout 47 from the Clean and Simple site.  Here is the sketch:

 

I flopped the layout because I wanted my little birdie facing the greeting rather than turning away from it. 

 

What is paper piecing you ask??  I stamped the bird in Basic Black ink on the Whisper White card stock circle first.  I stamped it a second time in Black Ink on our Apricot Appeal Designer Series paper.  I cut out the little polka dotted body from the Designer Series Paper and glued it over the image on the white card stock.  You now have a yellow polka dot bird.  Tip: This technique works great for single line open image stamps.

 

I ran the Tangerine Tango card stock through my Big Shot for some polka dot texture to match the bird.

The pattern for this last project was featured in my Stampin' Success magazine (monthly newsletter for Demonstrators).  It's a cute little treat holder that is easy to make.  You can find the pattern HERE.  There is a cute little box on the inside of the cover to hold a small treat or gift.

I just love this stamp set (Frames With a Flourish) and the Chocolate Chip polka dot ribbon and am very sad that they are retiring!
